It is certainly about time. The immigration policy of the United States needs to be reexamined piece by piece. I completely understand the need for security and need to avoid another 09/11. However honest, hardworking, peaceful intellectuals, are paying the price because they are from a certain country or ethnic background. This country could not be in this place at this time without immigrants…starting with the pilgrims.Sometimes we stand to lose the imput of great minds because we are so close minded. I think the State Department needs to take an inner look and employ individuals who are capable of conducting an interview in an intelligent and respectful manner, and arrive at educated decisions. Based on anecdotal accounts, the state department does not always employ “good sense” in screening visa applicants. Is it really necessary for a review or security check to take months if not years. What is the applicant in question supposed to do in the meantime? People get discouraged and take their resources (human and non human) elsewhere. The system needs to be streamlined and user friendly. Very often people are left waiting, and it may be years before they even have an idea where they stand. Try have a conversation on the phone with someone from the state department…..a very frustrating experience.
I think a review of the policies, and quick action will allow for quicker, more efficient processing and as mentioned, conserve consular resources for where it is most needed. This will be true not only for Science Tecnnology students from certain countries, but other categories of immigration petitions such as spouses, parents and children, students for the health sciences and so on. Instead we spend taxpayer dollars in the State Department supporting inefficient processes. By reviewing our processes, we can save dollars which can be directed into our failing economy, conserve our human resources for more intelligent use, and we might even enhance our national security while we’re at it.

With yet another path to citizenship in this nations future, we had better take careful notice of the consequences? Without any doubt to process 13 to 20 million plus illegal immigrants is, according to Robert Rector of the reputable non-profit Heritage Foundation $2.5 TRILLION DOLLARS. It’s an accumulation of procedures necessary to investigate backgrounds of all those who come out of the proverbial shadows. But if and when another of these AMNESTIES is forced past the American voters, millions more will be equally ready to head for America, expecting a ninth Amnesty. The major one in 1986 was rife with fraud, a disaster and was never enforced, that’s why our country has uncontrolled illegal immigration?
If we command of the Democratic leadership who originally tried to kill E-Verify, such as Sen. Harry Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, we have an ongoing chance of combating the illegal immigrants of stealing further into the workplace. With Obama admitting that unemployment is farther on the rise, why would they be entering discussions of forcing another Amnesty down our throats. E-Verify is rapidly catching on and accelerating in the workplace and should not be denied to the American worker.
