Queens, New York: In observance of Guyana 45th Independence anniversary, celebrations will take place on May 15th 2011 at the Performing Arts Center, York College, Queens, New York, commencing at 3:30 pm.
Queens Council Man Leroy Comrie of the 27th council district will host the event.
Guyana Day is a celebration the heritage, culture and achievements contributed by Guyanese, globally.
It has become an annual event in New York City, with great acclaim for excellent performances, presentation and attendance.
The Timehri Award will be presented by Guyana Day, Inc. to a Guyanese who has made significant contributions in the Arts and Culture.
The event is free of charge and supported by various local corporate sponsors.
