The Associated Press is reporting that 50,000 people in Guyana did not pick up their voter registration cards as of yet despite general elections that will soon be held.

Guyana Elections Commissions (GECOM) told AP that people without cards will be barred from voting and the Commission is trying to register thousands of people living in the interior but the problem is that many people were not resisted at birth.

Election date is yet to be set for some time in August according to various sources but in Guyana anything is possible.

Ruling PPP has yet to select a candidate to represent the party.

Current president Bharrat Jagdeo is ineligible to seek the seat as he has served two full terms according to Guyanese law.
