  1. J.D. says:

I’m not that suprised. Lots of West Indian bring their business to the U.S. and scam people, especially their own.

  2. A Reader says:

    Have you tried Laparkan shipping?

  3. Sammy says:

Laparkan,DHL and King Solomon all the same in Guyana. They steal most of your items, late deliveries, fake receipt books and overcharge on the shipping fees.

  4. Trevor says:

DHL? WOW!! That’s a suprise considering an article I read in FAST COMPANY’s magazine detailing how reliable they are. It also mentioned the big clients they received because of their quality of service.

Shipping companies in Guyana has always had a bad reputation. I didn’t think a company such as DHL would fall prey to the same practice.

If neither of the three companies are reliable then what alternatives are they?

  5. cyos says:

The only alternative is C.Y.O.S. (carry your own sh-t).

  6. Andrew says:

Thats great! ..A wise one speaks..

Andrew, let me first of all symphatise with you on your one unfortunate experience while shipping with one of the most reputable and longstanding businesses serving the caribbean community in the New York area. Undoubtedly, you and your family would have suffered heightened anxieties when anticipated pharmaceuticals/medications did not arrive in the shipped amounts. It is my sincerest hope that your family member did not suffer irreversible cardiac compromise as a result of this mishap.

In defense of King Solomon Shipping and many similar companies which perform invaluable services and end up being subject to such negative publicity, let me share with you some of my insights as someome who has conducted business in the US and Guyana over the past twenty five years.First of all, many of us stand on the shoulders of the King Solomons of the world who were brave enough and strong enough to be the pioneers in entrepreneurship in our communities. When we were still of the mindset that it was normal to wait for weeks or even months for the post office to deliver our packages and boxes these pioneers took it upon themselves to introduce systems whereby our mails and packages would get to us sometimes within hours. May I remind you that postal employee theft within the GPO was one of the major contributing factors that encouraged the growth of such shipping businesses. King Solomon Shipping has brought employment to individuals both in the US & Guyana & ought to be commended for this. The principals of King Solomon, even though residing in the US are ultimately responsilbe for what goes on in the company but cannot control difficiencies in an employee’s character in Guyana. Unfortunately some dishonest characters will slip through the screening process & be hired. This is true of any company. In addition, packages are handled by several agencies(the carrier, the US customs, the Guyana customs) before getting to their destinations. Customs will at times rip open packages for routine inspections. Customs is not immune to dishonest individuals.Having shipped with KS shipping I know they offer insurance in the event these circumstances occur.Perhaps you should make use of them. Dont be pennywise and pound foolish.

I have traveled on major airlnes to many destinations around the world and have had items missing from my suitecase upon my arrival. I never blamed the airline nor discouraged anyone from using them because of my mishap. I realised that it could have been an airport employee or even a passerby who may have taken my belongings.

While it is true that King Solomon Shipping is not a perfect company it still offers one of the fastest and most reliable shipping services to Guyana and its other Caribbean destinations. When they fall short of your expectations let them know instead of beating up on them.

King Solomon Shipping truly appreciates your business and works hard to improve your shipping experience.

@layne, Layne, the author is ANGRY GUYANESE. The article was sent to me to be posted. Before you start commenting, you should be made aware that King Solomon is very much aware of this article as i sent it to them. ERI who seems to be a manager at King Solomon in Guyana has been on this blog numerous times and has responded. See his comments at reply 101, 104,105, 106, 108, 109,110, 123 and 124. I will respond to you in more detail a bit later as it is 2am in the morning.
        Regards,
        Andrew

  7. archie says:

I think you are so right on the deplorable state of guyanese operating out of the usa to guyana. just visit the warf in guyana and u will aggree with this writer.

Poor slappy, hogwash attitude has no place in globalisation—i am sorry guys ,that attitude runs thru the entire government—–call the local ministries in guyana, and you will aggree with me

  8. VJ says:

I ship with king solomon almost every week, so far nothing was lost
but when it comes to shipping things to Guyana I know that things will disappear from time time

  9. Andrew says:

    VJ

It depends on what you are shipping.,,,Sought after items ,,,like medicines,,,for loved one,,,usually will attract pople..they carry hugh profits on the market..If you are shipping household items and clothing,,,more often than not it gets there safely,,,The boldness of King Solomon…is beyond me…..Companies like that is what helps to undermine Guyana. Moreover, eventhough i pay the shipping costs from the US..King Solomon employees demand another fee when the deliver it,,,Imagine that!!!

  10. Patrick R says:

Andrew, my thoughts exactly. It depends on what you are shipping.

The question is, where is the accountability?

  11. common sense says:

either the shipping company that posted this is in need of business. or the angry guyanaese(guyanese) does not want to pay duties for the medication, obtained via methods, he would not want to share with authorities. i am so sorry they stole his common sense medication. now the angry guyanaese (guyanese) is also stuuupid. next time tie the medication to your 1972 get out and push saab and drive it to guyana. so that customs could seize you and the car for importing medication without the proper documents.

i have a horror story with shipping companies too. one of my most famous story is my box that i shipped with king solomon shipping. inside my box had a bottle of 8 oz peanut butter, that somebody stole 2 oz from. my family in guyana was so distraught at this. as they were now forced to buy peanuts from the peanut man.

king solomon shipping is and will forever be the most honest shipping company they have out there.

  12. angry Guynaese says:

Great! Is having common sense seriously comparing peanut butter to medicines that is not available to buy in Guyana. If you would like to comment on this article, I suggest you read it first and understand why it was wriiten,..It was written is to address a serious issue that could have cause a potentially life threating event. If you family was distraught over peanut butter..send the money for them to buy,,,it would be common sense after the experienced they endured…

  13. Nadine says:

Guyanese citizens pay their tax and duties. when your package arrive at guyana most of your stuff missing and you can complain all you want to the clerks and supervisors and they just dont care. There is no refunds or claim sheets.you pay alot to mail your package, extra charges for transportation and on duties and yet no one can look into this matter. The clerks there go nuts when they see valuables and sometimes ask if you cannot leave something as a gift to them-this is sickening.

Common sense, why do you want to mail peanut butter to Guyana when a one pound jar Crunchy or any other brand selling for $1.25 US?It is okay for your family to be distarught for 2 oz peanut but what about the family who could not get their medications on time which is unavailable in Guyana?

  14. common sense says:

there is always a reason for everything. what i know is that someone is angry because they did not get the service they expected, which is understood. i would be upset as well. regardless of what it is. medication or peanut butter. i am not here to defend corporations or individuals. as what (ag) stated is a serious problem. pilfering is not tolerated by me. nor should it be tolerated. however the culture is such, that it is widespread. i am glad that (ag) wrote the article.

his article is needed, though i disagree with the rip off statement. universal airline was a rip off. king solomon shipping is not a rip off. this is a company that started something for guyanese who did not have any avenue to export items for there families. now there are numerous shipping companies. and they continue to service guyana and the caribbean.

i know this because i am friend of his son. i took the letter to him. which of course was disappointing for him to read that. that he said i could post his number for anybody who has complaints.

  15. Angry Guyanese says:

I am very happy you have disclosed your relationship with the said party. Were you affected by the incident Common Sense? Obviously not! You were not the woman waiting for her asthmatic inhalers who often have acute bronco spasms. I would hope you can understand the pain and disappointment. And do keep in mind, Laparkan shipping was there. Moreover, you are biased to make an opinion based on your relationship,, Could I expect anything different. You should ask them about the situation,,,I called them at the location in NY and it seemed like the woman there had a problem with me when i tried to explain the situation,,..She basically said that it was impossible for someone to open the box and take anything,,,Ask her,,,She is the one with the new baby,,,she was informed of a future posting of an article like this,,,Moreover, I will be posting one in the local news paper,,,

  16. COMMON SENSE says:

    DOES ANYBODY TELL THE TRUTH.

  17. COMMON SENSE says:

    BARACK OBAMA DOES

  18. COMMON SENSE says:

    VOTE OBAMA 08

  19. Andrew says:

It would be common sense to vote fpr Obama. Could you elaborate as to why Obama would be excellent for the presidency?

And absolutely, many people do tell the truth but truthfully, Obama does not in many cases similar to that of of other candidates.

  20. COMMON SENSE says:

THE WORLD IS CHANGING, AND IT IS TIME FOR NEW AND FRESH IDEAS. AND NOT PREHISTORIC IDEOLOGY. BARACK BRINGS THAT FRESHNESS. WHETHER OR NOT IT WILL STAY FRESH, IS LEFT TO BE SEEN.

BARACK WILL WIN PENNSYLVANIA AND MARCH ON TOWARDS THE WHITE HOUSE. OTHER THAN HIS IDEAS. THE MEDIA LOVES HIM FOR NOW.

  21. Andrew says:

But you still haven’t elaborated on the reasons as to what are those ideas my friend.

  22. common sense says:

bannah, go to barack obama .com and see his list of objectives. i got to find a part for my car, that none of the presidential hopefuls will help me get

  23. common sense says:

yo angry guyanese, you try to diss me, then say im bias. i could give a frogs rotten teeth about you and your dilema. this is an opinion board.

you and king solomon shipping dont pay me. your just mad that you believed in bear stearns and they bellied up your life savings. im now reading over your comments and see u paid $25. and 3/4 of your medicine was missing.

$25 is the cost of a quart of oil for my car. let me repeat it again. cause you might think it is a misprint. $25 is the cost of a quart of oil for my car.

    bias. just one word. cliche.

  24. common sense says:

it must have been candies you sent to guyana. how do you steal medication, that you cant use.

  25. common sense says:

i got some tums, maybe you need it, for all the gas that has backed up to your head. if anybody punch angry guyanese in the stomach, he will shit himself. so be careful and dont bump into him.

  26. Andrew says:

Great! Thanks for the feedback. Obviously you have alot of rage. Use it constructively by enlighting others on your principles, Maybe we will learn somethig from you if there is something worthwhile that you would like to share,
Post an article if you care to share your thoughts, If not you are free to talk trash but choose your time wisely and see which fairs better.

  27. Andrew says:

If you need a part for your car,,,go buy it,,

  28. common sense says:

oh, i see another member of the blogging crew is angry. did bear stearns put a dent in your portfolio, or was it a hole. what thoughts are you sharing. this is a hearsay blog. it seems that all new york guyanese media is built on propraganda and transcripts from legitimate news organizations. so that they can sell your house with an adjustable mortgage, that will leave eating curry without the roti.

  29. J.D says:

Common sense, you are such an ——-.If your family was in the hospital waiting that medication, then you would probably know the feeling. Why don’t you do a survey and see which incompetent shipping comany known for its major rip off;that way hundreds of guyanese will share their opinions. Why dont you post your friend number so that people can leave their complaints then? Are you scared? Its going to be in the media anyways.

We are talking about King Solomon here, who the hell cares about Obama? We are Guyanese who can barely afford anything when all you got to worry about is your car-there are more important things in life.

This website is not about promoting propaganda/hatred issues-its about speaking out and what can we do together as a West Indian Community to help make a difference.Obviously you dont care!

  30. Annand says:

Hey Common – yes, this is a blog.

We use it to talk about what’s going on around us. If we wanted to be a legitimate news organization you would know it. And what’s wrong with blogs anyway? If you have such a distaste for blogs why not suggest an alternative?

  31. Annand says:

J.D, please watch your language. Thx!

  32. Marie says:

What kind of car cost $25 for a quart of oil?For you to prcrchase a car that cost $25 for a quart of oil you seems to be weathy? If you could afford it then, you can afford it now so please stop whining.Dont you not know about the inherent economical shortcomings of a Capitalist Economy?

  33. common sense says:

    thank you sir andrew.

the purchase of bear stearns by jp morgan chase without going through the normal regulatory procedure is ridiculous. did you see these gentlemen at the congressional hearing ?

i have empathy for the innocent stock holders, not the members of the board of directors and the federal reserve.

the fed should not have bailed them out if the board of directors are still walking the streets free. the bail out should have meant jail time for the board members.

this is the second economical disaster under the bush administration involving prominent corporations.

citigroup. i never liked citibank, however, through there acquisitions of smaller banks i was grandfathered into there system. i did not follow much of there situation. if im not mistaken, they have proposed layoffs. or was it that they purchased countrywide. or did countrywide go bankrupt . the financial institutions are in such turmoil, it is hard to keep track.

with all this instability in the economy, i tell my co workers, save your money. even if it is a cent. save it. financial education is what our society needs. which is entirely different topic. but it is imperitive that our culture if not society, learn.

  34. Andrew says:

    Common Sense
The governmentt bailed out Bearsterns because the global effect on the economy and thats what you need to understand. On a Global scale, China’s economy is one half that of the US and is growing at a rapid rate, It would be logical for the Gov to bail out bearstearns considering the fact that Bearstearns was the nations fifth largest investment bank The effect would have been detrimental to the global economy. JP is going to pay 10 dollars per share, well below the market value of 159.36 per share a year ago but nevertheless it is goingbuffer some of the losses. Moreover the Canadian dollar and the Euro are up. Trying to stabilize the world’s global market is of optimum importance, hence, I think it was logical on behalf of the US Gov to step in.
As to your remarks on my going belly up on Bearstearns..I do not invest in the financial sector at all and never had in the past. I am well happy in the Biotech sector which has faired well in any type of economical climate. In the future, if you are going to assume me, I suggest you at least try to get it close.

PS: Are you with on of Citigroup’s member companies?

  35. common sense says:

are you going tit for tat, and at the same time trying to be professional. my opinion is my opinion. yours is yours. as for your sector, i find it to be the biotief sector.

who does not know europe and china is the economic powerhouse is dead.

jp morgan bought it for $2 per share. they will resell at $10.

global effect. are you serious. i can see you are not within the financial sector, but a outsider. this is issue is dead.

jd and anand. who cares what i consider important or not. or what is going to be in the newspapers. i have my life to live. and you and your fellow bloggers comments are not part of my life.

this is america. i am dealing with american issues. you are dealing with indian issues. that is not the message of barack obama. you either vote for change or vote to remain the way you are.

i would not post nobody numbers. im not here for advertisement. for your statement that guyanese can not afford anything. that maybe in your community. but not in mine. i am rich. check all the definitions of the word. and it pertains to me.

    sorry folks,

but its not my fault im rich. and im not ashamed of it.

  41. baby millions says:

  42. Andrew says:

I am happy you see Obama as the next incumbent.. I am aware of his acheivments and shortcomings. Thanks…This blog was on King Solomon. If you would like to talk about Obama, search the other sections for “sunil”. He writes on the American political campaign. This blog was created for issues affecting caribbean nations. But bloggers are free to post outside of focus. There are other sites that do primarily focus on American issues, I think your comments would be much more appreciated there. This will be the last comment on this subject I will post. Make it a great day.

  43. baby millions says:

king solomon, laparkan, does not have nothing. they are nothing. minute companies compared to the real companies. pepsi, coke.

    the caribbean nations. please.

lets talk barbados. trinidad. st. vincent. guyana has nothing. the laughing stock of the caribbean. guyana = bribes, extortion, thieves and drugs. let us talk of jamaica. st. kitts. let us talk about the real caribbean places.

the hatians will overcome their crisis.

  46. indian king says:

    eat what words,

who do you ship with now angry man? who the heck steals peanut butter? i find that fascinating.

angry man, did you have a prescription for this medication? i find your story to be somewhat fabricated.

why would you post someone number is just plain dumb. i would shut his blog down if that ever occurs.

guyana is and will foever be controlled by indians, we are the superior one’s of the two races.

    eat those words

  47. Reader says:

Why are you guys bashing each other about superiority, race,Obama, car and money? This blog is about Shipping company ripping people off regardless if its peanut or medications- they have no right to steal or misplace it cause money is being spent for services. Why dont you focus on what you can do to help improve the situation?

Common Sense, on responses #14, you stated ” I know this because i am a friend of his son. i took the letter to him which was ofcourse disappointing for him to read that. That he said i can post his number for anybody who has complaints”. However,on responses #36 you claimed you will not post nobody number. Common Sense all you talk is trash and non sense-either you help or you dont.Dont come here boasting on how rich you are, cause when you die you wont be able to take it with you so enjoy while it last. If you were an honest man, then you would posted the phone number and hopefully your friend or his dad would do something to help the people if it was so disappointing to them. All you can do is talk trash, trash and more trash.

  48. Indira says:

Having shipped with King Solomon on many occasions, I have never had any major problems, it seems as though you “Angry Guyanaese” is mis-informed about what happens in Guyana as it relates to custom duties and other services. For the most part people are under the assumption that when they pay to ship a package, box or barrel or any commodity that they no longer have any other finacnial responsibility. Wrong when a package is shipped many customers fail to declare or lie about the exact contents of the package to the shipper, there is no way that the shipper would know the contents until it arrives to the destination and is examined by customs and assessed duties, which are based on guidelines. At this point the shipping company can either pay the duties and clear/collect the box or notify the customer what the duties are and come to pay it themselves (and anyone that has ever cleared anything at customs knows that this alternative is next to impossible).
Needless to say that “Angry Customer” considering that it was medication, perhaps you were in a rush to recieve your package hence you and took it upon yourself to go and uplift the package thus incurring $5000 in transportation costs. Let’s be realisitic here no company whether it be King Solomon, Laparkan or others all have a delivery schedule to follow, and will not go to Berbice to deliver 1 package”
As for recommeding Laparkan…hmmm a company owned by the Guyana Govt (oppressors), a company that recieved a $400m loan from the NIS (yes do the research) which will never be paid back, a company that has had many FTC violations ( for shipping of ammunition and other illegals), and a company that has an owner with a gambling problem…. spew the garbage somewhere else…

It funny how we blast our own, when thing are lost/stolen with other major american companies…issues are never resolved, you get the run around and never get reimbursed…

Get a life haggle about the race relations in GT ” One people one nation one destiny”

  49. Indira says:

“Indian King” you sound very illiterate, and thus ignorant…what makes any race superior to the other…have you forgotten your history, we indians voluntarily went to the west indies to make a better life…because we were the poor & downtrodden in India…hence our indentured servitude…the blacks had no choice in the matter…and yes we come here to the US and are snobbed upon the by other races “especially the Indian nationals & Pakistanis” because the consider us “coolies” “One People One Nation One Destiny”

  50. Indira says:

“Baby Millions” you too sound illiterate… the plight of Guyana is not caused by the people but the “political & economic crisis” caused by the Govt and the distribution of wealth…If you know your history Guyana was once considered the “Bread Basket of the Caribbean” Also its small companies like King Solomon & Larpakan and so many other that have grass root beginnings that make the US, Caribbean economies thrive….look at the % of small companies to big ones…Pepsi, Coke etc…did you think they started where they are, sorry to disappoint, but they did not…
I guess you arent Guyanese either hence the rush to judgement!!!!

  51. Angry Guynaese says:

    Indira,
Thank you for the response. In light of what you noted, i must let you know the the shipper clearly noted that medicines were part of the shipping contents. Also, i have received many packages on numerous ocassions and i am well aware of tarrifs attached. Please take your time and read the posting again..you would get a clearer picture as to why i traveled to Georgetown..Do keep in mind that medicines like the same were shipped on numerous ocassions by other companies with out tarrifs being added to them. Are you saying to me because your experiences were positive that that my situation i highly unlikely to occur??? Please take your time and understand why i wrote this article….

  52. baby millions says:

right now i am in africa. which would be of no interest to you.

you blog babies, talk the talk. i dont have time for that. i am in africa.

indira, i hope your ok. it took you quite some time writing your opinions.

but it seems the literate ones have a problem with the illiterates. so i would seek your help on making me literate.

medication. peanut butter, customer service. tariffs. who understands and who do not understand what is written. wow. wow. the whole purpose of this blog is for king solomon. i like that. positive experiences and negative experience with king solomon. the pros and the cons. each one trying to out right the other.

angry guyanese is right. indira is right. common sense is right. indian king is right. you may say to yourself, baby millions is a real idiot. how could all of you be right. and i would say, all of you need to read over each others statements. then think. which is going to be hard, because everyone is right. therefore, there is nothing to think about.

i am in africa now. taking the same donated medication to a family that needs it. there is no customer service here. there is no rip off here. because i am servicing the people. the people who did not contribute to my wealth. i am giving them something that i have worked for, my money in the form of medication.

    see you soon america,

    baby millions, the universal guyanese

  53. common sense says:

what a controversy. poor people fed up. down in the ghetto where the poor have nothing. are some of the songs from bounty killa. which leads me to another of his songs. from you are a spy, you will have to die.

  54. kim says:

it’s been ages since i’ve done any barrel shipping or receiving but i find some of these stories hard to believe as i’ve not seen or heard any major complaints about solomon’s in Guyana…they’re going to be problems here and there as with any business but am not sure if this is how these people operate or i find it hard to believe they’d be around this long and expanding into hotels and everything else they are doing with shoddy business practices

  55. Andrew says:

The choices are limiting and the reality is that many people do not find it worthwhile to go beyond the regular complaining..Have you visited the King Solomon facility in Richmond Hill NY or why don’t you try calling them to see how often they pick up the telephone.. or log the service you would receive if you try to make a formal complaint…

  56. guyana says:

who steals prescription medication from packages? which shipping company does not have a problem ?

who actually brought up this topic ? andrew are you part of the baigan choka team ? is this a indian website ?

  57. Andrew says:

Yes! This is west Indian focused website. There are many reputable shipping companies..king solomon not being one of them for the various reason elucidated. An Individual living in Guyana submitted this topic. Should you be concerned if I am a member of the team?
    Andrew

  58. Indira says:

Andrew…name one shipping company that does not have issues…its funny how people hold the shipping comapnies to a higher standard than the post offices…

  59. Andrew says:

Listen! Many shipping companies have issues but when they fail to accept that or acknowledge the fustration of their customers by telling their customer the “It is impossible, that can never happen,” the issue becomes one of credibility. What type of standards should we hold shipping companies to? Can you suggest some? And what type of standards do we hold post offices to? Please share your thoughts!

  60. Annand says:

Talk about beating a dead horse with a stick!

This individual blog is simply someone expressing their dissatisfaction with the service of King Solomon’s shipping company and it goes a little beyond dissatisfaction considering this person is claiming that their “medications” were stolen. It doesn’t matter how it was sent, why it was sent, etc… the fact of the matter is King Solomon shipping company was paid to ship a package and some or all of the contents were never received. If the contents were questionable and could not be shipped then King Solomon should have so inform the individual shipping the package.

This has nothing to with holding King Solomon or any other shipping company to a higher standard or comparing them to American companies. If I go to a store to buy a shirt I expect to receive a shirt, not half a shirt or a pants instead of a shirt. So Indira I have no idea what “standard” you are talking about. This individual paid King Solomon to have their package shipped and King Solomon did not deliver on its promise. So if after contacting King Solomon’s shipping company and no efforts were made to look into this matter then this individual has every right to vent!

This blog has been getting more than its share of attention and if the owner of King Solomon is the least bit worried about the effect this complaint may have on their business they should contact this individual and resolve this issue. Otherwise this is a dead issue and everyone is blowing it way out of proportion!

  61. John says:

I use Apple Shipping–This company is the best to Guyana. These guys located in Queens has been in the shipping business for a long time, but was primarily serving the Indo-Guyanaese community of Richmond Hill Queens. Don’t give up sending for your family. My wife recently decided that she will start using Western Union and send cash becuase those family down there are so picky.

    –John

  62. Reader says:

John, i use Apple Shipping Company and most of my stuffs were missing and the same happened with most shipping companies. Recently i used Champion Shipping- i paid 120 US and my barrel arrived in Guyana[ home delivery] in five days. My relatives in Guyana did not have to pay no tax or duties either. You can use Champion to send money to Guyana and your relatives will recieve the exact amount you’ve sent. Money Gram is also cheaper to send with, However, Western Union charge more to send and then they convert the currency at their exchange rate in Guyana[ which is always lower that the market exchange rate] so your relatives will recieve less. Champion shipping do not have a clean and neat office/environment what someone maybe looking for but they have quality and reliable services. It is so good to know that you are helping your family in Guyana-keep it up.

Anyone using Laparkan, should be aware that boxes ‘disappear’ from their warehouse in Linden Blvd NY. I had this problem recently and ended up losing US$882.71.
Laparkan refused to accept responsibility even though it was almost certainly one of their employees who was responsible.

  69. Andrew says:

    WOW!
Can you please tell your situation? So sorry to hear that!

  70. cuttie says:

Some time ago I ordered a Power Mig welder from a company in the US who do not normally ship outside the US.
I consulted with the local Laparkan, and they gave me the proceedure to follow for the box to be shipped directly to them and then they would ship it to me.

The box was delivered to Laparkan in Linden Blvd and signed for by their warehouse manager Leonard Brown. Anyone can go to the website www.baxworld.com/tracking/ and enter the tracking number 88264225.

A few days later I called Laparkan. They acknowledged receiving the box and would ship it down on the next boat.

Two weeks later, I received a call from Laparkan saying that they had not received the box.

It seems that when the time came to ship the box down, they could not find it in the warehouse so they attempted to disclaim any responsibility for its disappearance by saying that they had never received it.

The welder is the type that can be used for stainless steel and aluminium welding and is also perfect for autobody welding. Presumably, one of Laparkan’s employees who has an interest in autobody repair carried it away.

Some of the things I found out about Laparkan as a result of this issue:-

Unlike all other shipping companies of substance, they do not have a tracking number system which can be used to track packages from the time they receive it to the time they deliver it.

They are very nice when one calls to do business with them but as soon as a problem develops they turn into a steel wall. If you call them, they listen to you but say nothing. When you are finished they say they will check it out and when they find out something thay will call you back. In fact they never do.

They have a poor web site with some email addresses. If you send any email to the addresses shown, no one receives it. No one even knows who is to check the email address shown on their web site.

If you send email to the address of individual employees, they never acknowledge it much less reply.

They have very poor communication among employees in the company. I now realize this is deliberate so when a problem develops, everyone can pretend that they are not aware of it.

  71. Guest says:

Cuttie thank you for sharing your story with us.Where and how can we put a stopping to LPK?Do you have any ideas? Is it possible for other shipping companies give out info on LPK; especially if you explained your situation to them.Maybe they can be of a help as to hint where you can actually locate the Manager of LPK or get his phone number. Perhaps you should send this note to the editor in chief at Stabroek News,Guyana Chronicle or Kaieteur News. When you do that others will be inspired to share their story as well. Together we can make a difference!

  72. Jim says:

Recently i heard someone complaining that their relatives sent a barrel with Laparkan Shipping.Their relatives from Florida had already paid for home delivery.Later that week a Laparkan employee called and said that they have to go to Georgetown to uplift the barrel because no one paid for home delivery. When they went to Georgetown, the full barrel of used children clothing and foof stuffs was reduced to three quarter barrel and they were asked to pay 12,000 Guyana Dollars[60 US] for the duty.Until now, there is no claim sheet,no superior or Manager to complaint about their thieving ways at Laparkan.Hopefully they can sleep comfortable in their bed at night knowing that they have been stealing and lying all day!

  73. Andrew says:

These west Indian shipping companies rely on the thought that the community is passive or simply lazy is the sense of getting up and taking a stand, hence, they are able to continue procuring business without being responsible for the service they provide. Well, I hope this article serves as a stepping stone for others to voice themselves when community businesses fail the community in regards to the service they provide and the people that have nurtured their very existence.

Let us all welcome the ignorance of Common Sense. Perhaps if you were struggling with the everyday life inGuyana and you saw how the rich is taking advantages of the poor, maybe then you will have a heart to know what those people are going through. Why would people go through all of that expense and finance to get what they lost?Obviously it was important to them and there should be better customer service.

More than 80% Guyanese using Champion Shipping Company and so far there is no complaint. Also you can recieve your barrel in less than a week at your door step for 100 US.No need to worry about travelling to Town, taxes, duties and any other additional expense-all taken care of.And they do steal your stuff in the Caribbean, its everywhere but some are just unfortunate.

  77. Liyah says:

Common sense, why dont you do something valuable with your time instead of calling others name. What, do you think that you are so much better than anyone else? Your stupid car and liquor is more important to you. Nobody cares about you, your life and all your negative comments.Baiganchoka is the Best Online Web Site there is and will ever be whether you like it or not. WHEN YOU ARE TREATED THE WAY AG WAS TREATED THEN SAY YOU CAN PUT YOUR IGNORANCE TWO CENTS IN IF YOU DO HAVE TWO CENTS. TO AG I DO EMPATHIZE WITH YOU, YOUR DELEMA. SOME PEOPLE TAKE THINGS THAT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE TO THEM NOT KNOWING THE VALUE IT HAS FOR SOMEONE ELSE. AS FOR LAPARKN I CALL TWELVE TIMES TO GET A QUOTE ON SHIPPING A CRATE TO GUYANA AND EVERYONE AND EVERY OFFICE IN THE NYC AREA GIVE ME A DIFFERENT QUOTE RANGING FROM 250 DOLLARS TO 1850 DOLLARS SAME SIZE CRATE. SO THESE PEOPLE JUST DONT CARES. I GUESS THEY TREAT GUYANESE/WEST INDIANS LIKE SECOND CLASS CITIZEN. SO TO COMMONSENSE GO FIND SOME BECAUSE YOU HAVE NONE. WRITE YOUR COMMENT NO YOUR IDIOTIC/IGNORANCE WORDS JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN TYPE.

    Hey guys,
I used Champion Shipping this morning 12/6/2008 to send a 23 pound box to Guyana. They charged me USD70. I am not sure if that is the going rate or was i overcharged. The service was excellent thought. They were speedy and courtious. This is the location by the van wyck expressway at the corner of 109 avenue.

What bothered me though is that their rates were not posted.

  88. Roup says:

Apple shipping has been in business for over 20 years, but they do very little advertisement. I have never had a problem with them. 718 848 9500. As for Mr. Roshan Ali. The prices is always good.

They are located in queens (Jamaica Avenue) and do home delivery and pickup. Jumbo barrel $85.

  89. angry customer says:

WHOEVER SAY KINGSOLOMAN IS A GOOD COMPANY , WILL SOON DISCOVER HOW BAD THEIR SERVICE IS.
I AM A VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER, I SENT A FAST SHIPPING BOX WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE IN 1 WEEK , IT GOT THERE IN 3 WEEKS AND I ALSO SENT A BARREL IT IS 7 WEEKS NOW AND MY FAMILY STILL DID NOT RECIEVE IT, WHEN I CALL THEM , THEY NEVER GET THEIR ANSWARS CORRECTLY. THESE PEOPLE ARE A BIG RIP OFF.I WOULD ADVICE PEOPLE TO TOP SHIPPING WITH THIS UNRELIABLE AND MONEY HUNGRY PEOPLE.

STOP SHIPPING WITH KING SOLOMAN OR U WILL REGRET IT.

  90. Andrew says:

Their service and attitude does suck. King Solomon needs new management because they are doing a dis-service to the Guyanese community.

  93. Andrew says:

    Noah,
Can you please elaborate on what you mean by cheap…if a company advertises a service for a set price….should they not provide that which as agreed upon??

  94. saf says:

Noah you’re an idiot…Your comment made no sense..

  95. silochanie says:

I am very sorry you have had such bad experiences using king soloman’s and laparkan. If you are living in the UK, try Mike Harrison Shipping or Inter Island Shipping &travel Ltd. So far we may encounter late shipping and delivery problem but we have had our barrells intact because they use a special seal and lock system with a security code which can only be opened when the intended person is presented to clear it. I think the companies should always remember that news go around fast and bad publicity or image of their buiness can lead to collapse. They depend on us the customers, therefore, should value us and deliver prompt, honest and efficient services. They should take costomer’s comments/ complaints very seriously if they want to thrive in their buisness. They should train their staff good buisness and work ethics. They should also open their horizon to research on how and why other similiar buisnesses have continued to be successful. ANDALWAYS BEAR IN MIND THE CUSTOMERS WHOM THEY ALL DEPEND ON FOR A LIVING.THEY NEED US AS MUCH AS WE NEED THEM.

  96. Admin says:

Comment by SUNNDRA was deleted in error among spam. What was noted was that king Solomon is an excellent company that delivered documents to Guyana in 3 days for 20 dollars and a package that was delivered on time without hassle. Do apologize for the deletion.

    Thanks
    Admin

  97. Another Guyanese says:

I am sorry some of you have had so many bad experiences. I too had a bad experience, which surprised me because I have used Laparkan and King solomon shipping. I shipped 2 barrels to guyana through Laparkan, one by sea which takes at least 3- 4 weeks maybe even 6, which is understood. And one by air. For certain I need the one that was sent by air immediately. The barrel that was shipped by sea took 3 weeks to reach and the one by air took 5 weeks to reach. So, tell me should i be furious or what?

I called to inquire, but to no avail, I am out about $340 some odd dollars. Tell me how do you deal with that situation. I could have sent them both by sea and save some money, but I was sending the barrel for my family for Christmas, so at least they could have a happy one. Besides that I had no other bad experiences sending barrels.

To those of you that are at a loss, again I am sorry you had to go through that.

I happened to come across this website because I was looking for a shipping company in Maryland. I am no longer in NY so its very hard to find a good one and because they are very expensive. And it seems as if Im going to have to go to NY to have them shipped, I guess because it’s going to be cheaper in the long run.
At least this time I’m shipping by sea as not to encounter any “PROBLEMS”. And hopefully I wouldn’t encounter any opening of the barrels, because I would be one PISSED GUYANESE!!!! And they definately wouldn’t like what I would do.

    Thanks for reading.

It was three weeks ago 0n 4/19/09, i send a box for my family in Guyana, pay for everything up in America, because I told the woman at Solomon Shipping that I do not want my family to pay for anything, so she charge me $122.00 for the everything, now when the box reach my family, medication is missing and the guy that bing the box to them told them that their family did not pay everything for the box and the electric appliance did not pay for.
Now this box is a small box and the electric appliance is a battery operated juicer. The guy told my family that they have to pay $2000.00 for the juicer, then he said to them oh! i made a mistake is not $2000.00, it is 1500.00 dollars you gat to pay.
King Solomon is truely a thief and a rip off, both in America and Guyana, because I was told by a friend who knows of a friend that works at Solomon and Laparkan that they does tek what ever they want out of people

    • karen says:

Now how silly can u be? Do you really believe what you have written. If you have an electrical item in your package reguardless of which company you send it with YOU’LL BE CHARGED DUTIES BY GUYANA CUSTOMS. Do you really think a huge company such as King Solomon has teh time to steal $1500 gy dollars from u?. I have beena customer of theirs for yrs & I am quite happy with their service. Also why would someone steal medication ? Do they share the same illiness ?

  99. vishaul says:

for yrs my mom been using laparkan and i never got anything missing the only problem is customs they work very slow i guess they need more staff but i never had loss or damages

    • karen says:

Vishaul have you ever stop to calcuate the charges at Laparkan ? & I can assure you there stuff will never be delivered to your family door for free or get there as fast as King solomon would get it. TRUST ME TRY THEM……………

  100. Eri says:

I have read all your posts and I must say whilst some are definitely making light of any or all situations, that I realised the ones with heartfelt dissatisfaction and anger because of how their family and packages were dealt with. Specific mention is being made of the office in Richmond Hill @ Liberty & Van Wyck and I am here to let you know that your complaints and those of some others have been duly noted by Management and things are going to MAJORLY improve with respect to any business routed out of that Branch of King Solomon. I promise from June 1st that – Gone are the days of missing boxes or packages unless this is proven at a flight manifest level… Gone are the days of money transfers not being available for pickup… Gone are the days of missing items in packages and barrels sent to Guyana and anywhere else if sent thru the Richmond Hill Branch… Gone will be the days of late deliveries of any items shipped from The Richmond Hill Branch… As you all say you are customers or former customers – be aware that from June 1st you will be hearing from us (unless you numbers etc. have changed) and know that we have heard your cries and are re-vamping the system from the ground up to better serve you our fellow Guyanese & Caricom nationals. Our dedicated and supportive staff at the Richmond Hill Branch are committed to giving you all the Best Deals, Best Service & Best Experience as we re-launch in June 2009 – Stay Connected!!! I will keep checking with Baigan Choka until I am pleased with the turnaround and positive vibes – Our number once again is 718-658-1187 (Richmond Hill Branch Office). Please take time to call or come in from June 1st, 2009 and see the changes we’ve made and the Experience we will now provide. Thank You!

  101. Angel says:

    Eri,
What will make me take a third chance with King Solomon again. Once tainted..that can never go away…I sure will not use King Solomon again..give us a incentive to come back..there are other companies providing honest and reliable service …so why not use them.

  102. max says:

    Eri,
Well i hope that you plan to fire all those thieves you have working for you.I don’t believe a crap you’re saying – all that you’re interested in is your company and making money. You didn’t care when we had to pay 70 US to mail medication to Guyana – when the box get there it was empty and no one was held responsible for it . The thieves you’ve employed refuse to take complaints. One employee told the other she would tell the manager about it and nothing had been done. It was very costly medications that had to be bought and mailed asap to my grandmother who was hospitalized in Woodlands hospital awaiting treatment/surgery for Angina.

Then they had the balls to say that the sender didn’t made full payment for the package and we have to pay 15 USD that short for shipment and an additional 2000 GYD for tax.Only to open and find an empty box. I will advise everyone never ever ever to use King Solomon again.

And please know that if they full shipment isn’t paid for a package, there is no way that your company would ship it.Enough of the bull and sappy story…good riddance.

PS: how come there is no standard rate on shipping on a list or board with a fixed price? How come all that money for tax, and there’s no receipt? And why the hell people stuff being missing for years and nothing being done? Sorry just don’t cut it…And trust me, this is not the end…

  103. Eri says:

Never say NEVER, You will get incentives Angel – Come June 1st I will keep thisblog especially updated. We are re-vamping operations and adding NEW services and promotions and particularly dealing with all the customer disservice complaints we’ve received. We are going to be hands-on with the honesty and reliability issues expressed about our overseas operations… You will see and hear of the marked changes. Like I said – Stay Connected!!!

  104. Eri says:

    Max,

I am glad you put your PS segment in – I will see to that but there is a standard calculation dealing with weight or volume of any package we receive. We understand that the offices overseas are where we’re getting the complaints regarding thievery, uncouth behavior etc and as I said in my response to Angel we are taking a hands-on approach to deal with it – I will keep the updates posted.

It’s not that I didn’t care – it’s more a matter of – I wasn’t there, so please one thing that is clear with our staff here and abroad is that the Customer runs this Business, the Customer is always Right & we are aiming for 100% Customer satisfaction.

You are right – you should have received a receipt for any money you pay to any of our staff – here or abroad. I would appreciate it if when listing your issues, concerns it is stated where the problem originates so I can better address the situation (eg. at the Georgetown Office, Richmond Hill office etc.)

NB: I am speaking specifically about the revamping of the Richmond Hill office and how our customers are treated abroad.

  106. max says:

Eri, you’re all about business and no matter what you say or do – thinking that people would fall for your business tatics crap , whether you choose to revamp or not – people would choose Champion Shipping, Apple and other shipping company over yours, all because they are cheaper, courteous staff and reliable. If you had cared about customer satisfaction then something would have been done years ago. Why now? You claimed that you didn’t know about this earlier but i don’t believe you and never will. This problem is on for years now and nothing has been done and i swear i will be heard.

Some people living on the Corentyne cannot afford to pay the transportation cost to go to Georgetown to file complaints. For West Berbice customers, they always have to go to Georgetown to pick up their packages even though their relatives in NY already made payments for home delivery services.
99 % of the time you call King Solomon shipping company their phones lines are always busy – the 1 % no one ever picks up.

In the Georgetown location, there’s alot of racism and favouritism – they look at your face and color to tell you which part of the line you should stand in – actually you have to be standing on the steps. Is that how you run a business?

Its not that they stole once, they keep doing it over and over again. And i know that you are not going to fired those thieves you have working for you in Georgetown and Richmond Hill Location. So goodluck with you and your rip-off company.

    Are you the Manager?

    • karen says:

  111. AnnaHopn says:

Interesting, I`ll quote it on my site later.

  112. Hope says:

Tania, people don’t need to lie to cover up for a shady shipping company – whether you believe or not is your problem, but this is what happened and the reason why there’s so much comments – people want to be heard and something should be done about the claims.

Eri mentioned re-vamping etc but the old staff is still working at King solomon there with nasty old attitude and people items are missing and nothing is being done. People will target them and the building and then we would see what happens next to King Solomon Shipping and who would be held responsible then.

  116. Angry Bride says:

I am also a angry king soloman customer. I shipped two barrels to Guyana for my August 2009 wedding one through Laparkan and one through Soloman. The barrel from Laparkan arrived ontime with nothing missing but the barrel with soloman was delayed for weeks. Before i got to guyana i was calling everyday to find out the status of my barrel and i was told the same shi* that it would arrive before i got there. So i asked the question. If my barrel doesnt reach ontime will i get a refund? Or if i uplift my barrel myself will i get some money back?I was told YES from the queens, new york office(BROOKLYN OFFICE NEVER PICKS UP THERE PHONE).When i got to guyana my barrel still didnt get delivered so i called DAPHNE located in the georgetown office(SHE IS A LIAR DONT TRUST HER).She said that the barrel will be deliverd the Tuesday(August 2009).Tuesday came and the barrel never showed up.On wednesday when i called she said the truck had an accident(THIS WAS A LIE).But if i can pick up the barrel she will refund me my transportation cost.I went to georgetown and collected my barrel but when i called Daphne for the money she said that when i go back to new york the boss will refund me there($50.00).When i got home and open my barrel it was three quater filled. My wedding decorations were stolen,My table cloths and bridemaids favors were missing.A mp3 was cut out of the packed among other things. This was devestating since these things were meant for my special day.

When i came back to new york(SEPTEMBER 2009)I called the queens, new york office to uplift my $50 refund(EVEN THOUGH I LOST MORE THAN $50 WORTH OF THINGS) and i was told to come by and pick it up.When i arrived at the office i was told (BY THE INDIAN GIRL WORKING THERE) that the boss went out and forgot his cell phone and he didnt leave any money. And i should pick it up in the brooklyn office the next day. When i arrived at the Brooklyn office “ORIN” said to call the boss before he can give me any money. When i called the boss said he does not REMEMBER EVER SPEAKING TO ME ABOUT ANY REFUND OF ANY MONEY.AND THAT HE NEVER TOLD HIS STAFF I.E DAPHNE THAT HE WILL REFUND ME $50.THE ONLY THING HE CAN DO IS GIVE ME $20 FOR MY MISSING THINGS AND FOR MY TRANSPORTATION COST(BOTH WAYS) TO GET TO MY HOME TOWN IN NEW AMSTERDAM.

SO THEREFORE I LOST THE THINGS I PLACED IN MY BARREL,HAD TO PAY FOR A BACK SEAT OF A CAR TO TAKE THE BARREL HOME AND THEN I ONLY RECEIVED $20US=$4000GY.

THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS IMMEDIATELY.THEY ARE A MAJOR RIP OFF.
DONT SHIP WITH KING SOLOMAN YOUR THINGS WILL BE DELAYED AND STOLEN.

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

  117. sg says:

i think someone should sue dis company….

  118. Ameer says:

Ok Angry Bride why didn’t you check your barrel when you picked it up?

And King Solomon operates out of a house in BK what you expect no responsibility.

  119. Angry cuzin of the bride says:

Indeed this company should not be sued but be asked to close it operations down with imediate effect.

THE FACT THAT PEOPLE WORK VERY HARD IN THE STATES TO HELP THEIR FAMILY IN GUYANA IS VERY HEART RENDING TO THOSE SINGLE PARENTS WHO HAV ETO WORK TWO JOBS INORDER TO PROVIDE FO RTHEIR FAMILY.

IT WAS MY COUSIN BIG DAY, THE FACT THAT IT WAS HER WEDDING DAY, SHE SHOULDNT HAVE DONE WHAT SHE DID CUZ TO PLAN A WEDDIN TAKES ALOT OUT OF A PERSON. MY COUSIN WORKES HER ASS OFF OUT THEIR TO MAKE HER DAY PERFECT, THE ONE THING THAT THE COMPNAY COULD HAV DONE WAS TO STICK TO THEIR ORDER. PORFESSSIONALISM IN GUYANA IS A PROBLEM EVERYWHERE BUT U WOULD EXPECT A BUSINESS THAT OPERATES IN DEVELOPIN COUNTRIES WOULD HAV SOME FORM OF IT(PORFESSIONALISM).

KING SOLOMON NEEDS TO NO THAT THEY AR ETHEIR TO SERVICE THE PEOPLE AND ITS NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND, THEY THEMSELVES ARE PUTTING THEMSELVES OUT OG THE SHIPPING MARKET WITH THEIR LIES AND UNPROFESSIONALISM

SUCH INCIDENT MADE ME ASK I MYSELF WHAT IS THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THAT COMPANY. IS “TO RIP OFF AND LIE WITHOUT A CAUSE SO AS TO MAKE PEOPLES LIVES LIVING HELL” CUZ THATS WHAT EXACTLY THEY DID TO MY CUZIN.
HER FAMILY WERE LOOOKIN FORWARD TO THE STUFF THEY WERE PROMISED, IT HURTS EVERYONE BUT THIS COMPNAY SEEMSNOT TO HAV ITS CSTOMERS AT HEART AT ALL.
THIS PREDICAMNENT THAT CAME FROM THIS SHIPPING COMPNAY QUESTIONS IT COMPETENCE NOT ONLY OF THE ENTERPRISE, ITS EMPLOYESS BUT WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE FOR THE POEPLE LIVING IN BOTH GUYANA AND THE US.
THIS COMPANY HAS VIVDLY SHOWN US ITS PRESENT, PAST AND FUTURE CUSTOMERS (HOPE THEY DNT HAVE ANY) THAT THEIR MONEY, TIME AND VALUABLES ARE NOT OF VALUED TO THEM. I PITY THE MANAGEMENT AND STAFF OF KINGS SOLOMON.

IF THEY CONTINUED IN SUCH CUSCUS WAY AS WE SAY IT IN GUY ANA GOD FORBIT WHAT THE FUTURE OF THIS RIP OFF COMPNAY WOULD BE…….

  120. Angry Bride says:

@ Ameer How the hell do you expect me to open my barrel at the wharf?????????And itemize everything there. I trused this company but i guess TRUSTING THEM WAS MY FAULT.

  121. Andrew says:

King Solomon needs to address these issues immediately. Angry Bride, i cannot begin to imagine what you experienced, A few months back we had a Representative from King Solomon by the name of ERI on this Article pleading on behalf of King Solomon’s good nature and promised that King Solomon would change from their thieving ways. I am assuming that such did not happen. A few moments ago, I sent an email to King Solomon via their My Space contact because they do need to address these concerns since they are still in business because of the Caribbean public.

    Andrew

  122. Eri says:

    Angry Bride,

Whilst I understand your frustration – I must explain a few things about our operations out of Queens, NY.

Firstly when you ship a barrel with that King Solomon Branch by sea it may not leave these shores immediately – the office yes, within a week, but then its at the pier being loaded into a container and put on the boat/ship. I can assure you we are absolutely not interested in tampering with your barrel before it is sent to ship. The reason we give the 6 weeks estimation of travel time by sea is because by the time the shippers fill a container and and it actually leaves the shores of the US may not be within a week or two of the actual time it left the office… when it leaves our queens office – we are just like the customer checking tracking numbers, manifests and expected departure and arrival dates and times. If we learn that after it has left the office there was a problem, delay or issue getting it on the ship we can only tell you that much when we call the office there – we have no control over it other than it has our Co. seal so is to be assigned to us at the wharf in Guyana when the GT agents go to clear them (pay whatever duties were charged and take barrels to Georgetown for delivery, pickup etc.)

I was about to ask if you picked up the barrel from the wharf or King Solomon in Main St but you clarified for me in ur response to Ameer — u got it from the wharf, therefore any missing items had nothing to do with our agents in Guyana – they never got your barrel released to them – you cleared and picked it up – paying any applicable duties etc. – correct? With respect to any refund talk – our charges for sea cargo are 100 (if u pickup at the wharf & clear yourself) and 160 (if we clear & pick the barrel up at the wharf (you reimburse duty charged to us) ) – our door to door delivery in Guyana for barrels, boxes and money is a Free Service. i have no idea who Daphne is, but I will let you know that management at the different branches is just that – different, but all are using the trademarked co. name at this time. What i am in essence saying it that the boss at Qns is not the boss at Main St or brooklyn. Now if you have a receipt showing you paid 160 for your barrel to be cleared and then delivered door-to-door for you, but you had to clear it yourself from the wharf – you are entitled, armed with a copy of that receipt and your clearance papers from the wharf in Guyana , to a 460 refund. I don’t know what the $50 is about, it should be 60 and that would be a clean-cut case.

with respect to the missing items – as i said before if you ccleared your barrel from the wharf as you stated then our Agents never had access to it to remove anything – that complaint should have been lodged with customs not blamed on King Solomon. I believe the $20 refund mentioned may be minimum insurance included in the cost to ship – if you had purchased additional insurance then you would have had to prove ownership of items and lodge the relevant claims.

I would like to know why your barrel was not cleared from the wharf by our Agents in GT (Did they give you an explanation/reason)?

Get your receipt for $160 DD and your clearance papers from the wharf (proving you did the clearing yourself) and take that into the Qns office for your $60 refund ASAP. and barrels being cleared at the wharf should be opened there so that anyone can immediately lodge a complaint – it was not the KS agents in GT thievery or any such thing at play… customs officials searched your barrel and calculated duty charged etc. and they should be responsible for any missing items – 1/3 empty barrel would have definitely been noticeable to make that report then and there that you had shipped a filled to the brim barrel.

I hope I cleared up some of the issues and clarified some shipping/operation systems, please ask any other questions and list concerns and I will address them.

thanks for bringing this to my attention Andrew.

  123. Eri says:

I didn’t mean 460 refund, I meant $60 refund – just noticed the typo in my reread.

  124. Angel Bitch Singh says:

    I just need a quote

  125. Eri says:

If you’re the angry bride – I’ve told you what to do. If not, you need a quote for what, ?Angel – plz clarify?

  126. Another angry customer says:

I am totally frustrated with the dishonesty and unprofessionalism demonstrated by some staff at King Solomon shipping company… since the 28th of august I post a container with this company and other on the 7th of September and to date my stuff are not yet in Guyana… every time i call the representative in Guyana i am told call back tomorrow and to my disbelief my stuff is not here… why the lies??? you claim to take six weeks to ship stuff to Guyana but that is a blatant lie

    • zana says:

you have got to be stupid. who steals from a container that is locked and opened by you? i givbe credit to baigan choka though. there affiliation with laparkan is fueling this. ppp vs pnc style. you know how you idiots vote.

    • tod says:

yeah, i agree with you. that is very dumb. is this a ppp blog. baigan choka seems as though its geared to indo guyanese. everything here seems indian related. what a sorry state for guyana. they come here in america with there back home style non sense. thats why barbados is not having that. say thank you america. you saved us from the pnc. now the ppp killing a wee.

  127. bandit says:

angry bride and angry cousin. andrew (aka ?) . angry bride, are you saying you only got 3/4 barrel? is that an excuse for the delayed shipment? its astonishing the way you folks speak of professionalism. i find you guyanese people very unprofessional. not to mention very fast with the hands. its the opinon of the caribbean.

it seems items are always missing here. and the simplest of excuse it to blame the shipping company. if they misplaced your item they should be responsible. but why are you lieing. both angry bride and cousin are one person. andrew aka ? is as biased as they come. i would spread the truth on you so fast, you would shut your blog down.

use common sense when you ship folks.

  128. Andrew says:

    Mr/Mrs Bandit,
I implore you to indulge yourself. If you have something to say, just say it and make no threats. We do not respond to threats or ignorance very well. Do you have an actual name Mr/Mrs Bandit? It would be nice of you note who you are instead of masking yourself.

  129. Heather says:

I came across this while searching for something else. Sorry to hear about your Experience with King Solomon. My mother had a very similar experience With Mike Harrison. Its been going on 10 years now and has involved lawyers here (UK) and in Guyana, but this rogue trader is still in business.

In 1999, Michael Saywack and Mike Harrison Trading Ltd were contacted to ship all household belongings and a new Rover car to Guyana, South America for which a fee of

  130. Angry Bride says:

Wow this is the first time i am actually on this blog since Sep. 30 so any post after that using the name Angry Bride up to today is being written by someone else.@ Bandit (Stupid for using a name like that anyway) you seen like a know-it-all so for your information Angry Bride & Angry cuzing of the bride are two different ppl from the same family(And Andrew is not related to me in any way, shape or form). My cousin responded because i had something in the barrel for him that went missing.

And if Mr/Mrs Bandit or Mr/Mrs Rediculous as i would call you have never had a bad experience using this company or has never had things that are dear to you stolen, then i guess you should really shut-up and stop commenting on a blog that doesnt concern you cause you seen very idle.

And also all GUYANESE are not unprofessional. And do not ever address us as-YOU GUYANESE PEOPLE we deserve respect like everyone else. I am greatfull for this blog in order to share my experence and relate with everyone about the bad experience i had with this company.

  131. shellon says:

do king soloman do online shopping for costumers? For example:clothing and footwear? How much will it cost me to ship a barrel of new clothing for my kids?

    • Eri says:

      @shellon,

If you wish to know more about the services offered by the Richmond Hill Branch of King Solomon such as Personal Shopper you should be on their Blog www.kingsolomonshipping.blogspot.com where the NEW! service has been listed, and calling them directly @ 718-658-1187 to get the relevant time and cost analysis.

They’d be more than happy to assist you.

  132. Jon says:

I would advise that you use Laparkan shipping. Go to www.laparkan.com/ for more info. They will send the barrel right to your door step, you dont have to pay no duty/ tax – you can send whatever you want [ clothing, footwear and even jewelry ] and you know that your kids will receive it.

However if you will be mailing the barrel, you have to pay for home delivery services which is around 30 USD. It will cost your kids more than that in transportation fee if they have to go uplift it so its better to pay the fee.

To mail a barrel cost between 150 – 200 USD all depends on the size – regular or jumbo size. Also you can mail a flat rate box [ 70 lbs ] for 100 USD. You can contact them at Tel: 305 836 4393.

If you use King Solmon Shipping, instead of your kids receive a full barrel, they will get quarter or less. You will spend hours on the phone with King Solomon Shipping and they will make all promises and excuses for your missing items and in the end you will not be compensated/ refunded for your missing items. King Solomon Shipping is thieving and a no good company.

    • tod says:

shellon, do not listen to jon. you have to pay taxes, and duties. or are you saying laparkan with all there donations to the ppp is exempted from paying vat? you and andrew are insiders and this is what you are telling people. since when was it instituted that we dont have to pay duty or tax tod. this revelation brings closure to my suspicion all along. oh and by the way, just like how i predicted obama was the next pres. the same way ill predict laparkan and its government will hit the road. and walk on it hard also.

khan and sattaur are drinking buddies, so that is expected, so sattaur needs not go after the little man.

      • Andrew says:

@tod, I am not sure if Tod is speaking to himself and not realizing it. This is the same individual who responds to his own comments, He writes as Common Sense (KEM from Corian World Jamaica Avenue, very mush obsessed about Baiganchoka)
        www.baiganchoka.com/laparkan-shipping-company-needs-to-train-their-customer-service-reps-to-be-proactive-with-customers/

      • dave says:

tod you are right. laparkan pays these idiots to blast a meaningless company. what a bunch of greedy indians. they sacrifice there kins for material gains. there is no shame in there game. baiganchoka equals laparkan. from what i ‘ ve heard. laparkan is in problems. they have finally been met with justice after all these years of trying to put other companies out of business, instead of trying to serve there customers, they were focused on other companies activities. now laparkan is in reverse mode. moving backwards. reacquainting themselves with a another faltering company to suck the living dollar out of there own peoples pockets for riches. choka boys, you are not ready for this. you are a scourge in this society, with your alcohol abuse and domestic violence tendencies, your base is being deported every other flight. is your staff still undocumented. you do not want me to start with your history. cause your duck curry competition will be empty. just remember i told you that.

  133. cocern Guyanese says:

I haven’t really excperienced stolen or damaged items, rip offs etc. However, currently I am dealing with very poor customer service and lack of responsibilities. I sent a shipment since the begining of May and my packages should have been in Guyana since last week. But unfortuantely they are not. I did a follow up call with my local office and come to find out that my barrels are still in the U.S. It has been here for the past 3 weeks and I was never informed. U.S custom took the entire cubical of shipment for further inspection.

what my problem is that the employees or receptionist should have call and let me know about this delay. If i didnt call I would have never known about it. It is very upsetting. I was looking forward to these packages when I’m in Guyana in a few days. NOW I have to spend double money. This is ridiculous.

    • Andrew says:

@cocern Guyanese, Poor customer service seems to be the common issue. See the following article written by a customer like yourself on Laparkan shipping. www.baiganchoka.com/laparkan-shipping-company-needs-to-train-their-customer-service-reps-to-be-proactive-with-customers/

    • dave says:

who are you talking about. you had contraband in your shipment. you compulsive liars. what a fool. your just like the other shipper. you blame other people and companies for your complacency. baiganchoka blames solomon for sending illegal medication, and were caught with it. your culture is so full of cunningness and bribery. that you end up paying more for simple things. some things you indians will never learn. this is america. your back in the day style of doing things are not accepted here as normal. america is not for bribes. pay your money. instead of saving to die and leave it. what do you say baiganchoka. can you payout some of the bribe money that was given to you. i would not tell you who told me. but just make another note i know about it.

  134. Eri says:

Well as I promised The Richmond Hill Branch would be geared much more to customer interaction and finding a public forum to deal directly with NEW Promotions, customer issues and the Like…

  136. common sense says:

    • Elizabeth says:

Andrew I agree with you about King Solomon. They are a pack of criminals who steal your money and items when you use their service. I used them over thirteen years ago and they stole $200 US I had sent for my sister in Guyana and vowed never to use them again. Sorry I saw your article after I am looking for a company to send my sister some money.

      • dave says:

elizabeth, you seem disoriented. did your boyfriend slap you up before you wrote your comment. western union has been there for years. how brainless are you? thirteen years ago. were you even legal in this country. what a loser!
