Racism is destructive in Guyana. It destroys the nation and creates division in society. It is the opposite of the democratic laws on equality and the right of all people to be treated equally. It is believed that some people in Guyana are superior because they belong to a certain race or ethnic background. Attitudes and beliefs are a misconception about people based on fears, differences in customs, values, religions, physical appearance and the way of life. Racist behaviors in Guyana include ridicule, property damage, racial harassment and physical assault. It also includes a practice that exploits members of a particular group.

Indians and Africans have practiced racism in Guyana. Indian politician manipulates the Indians for political gains and the Africans politician manipulates the Africans for political gains. Why the denial? The hatred remains. Organizations, Institutions and the government discriminate either deliberately or indirectly against certain people to limit their rights.

Violence against Indians originate from Buxton is a part of political project by some black extremist to create as much political disorder and confusion as possible as a means of either forcing the P.P.P [People Progressive Party] to come to its senses and out of power. However Buxtonians felt that Indians are insensitive to Africans concerns and dissatisfaction. The Lusignan and Bartica massacre speaks for itself. Their best defense was killing twenty-four innocent people in two weeks in order to prevent the reading of the 2008 National Budget. Can we all help to stop the racial violence? Children living in fear that they will be hated, killed or be subject to condemnation.

Racism Guyana is heavly experienced at schools and workplace. Steming fromsschools it may result in early dropout, low educational level and ultimately low incomelevels because of a lack of education Together with discrimination in employment, this may lead to fewer employment opportunities. Lower income combined with discrimination causes restriction to access housing, health care and opportunities in life. People die because of that. It is very unfair to a person that anemployer won

    Racism exist for a reason. No one is a racist out of boredom, and unless that problem is addressed Guyana will always be a long way off from the country we all want it to be.

    As the person who wrote this article said, “However Buxtonians felt that Indians are insensitive to Africans concerns and dissatisfaction.” So very true. If their needs are not addressed what is the only way to get the necessary attention?

    indians are always racist and will always be!
    lots of indians living in south africa and these indians own half of the country and these african are badly treated by indians (its called racism)
