Who Is Dosti?

Dosti is an award winning dance group led by Aklima Khan-Mahadeo. It has 4 full time dancers, Lexi, Angelina, Briana and the teacher herself. They also have a DJ, Chrystal G, an Aveda Stylist Victoria B, and two adorable part time dancers Hanaa Khan, Khalil Khan Fauod and Kazim.

What is Dosti?
Dosti is a very unique dance group that is the next generation of West Indian performances in Orlando. Aklima calls it Modern Bollywood. Definitely not your typical dance crew. But in order to understand their style, you have to know a little bit about the leader of the Group, Aklima.

Who is Aklima?
Aklima studied all types of dance in NY since the age of 8. She has studied American Ballet, American Jazz, American Modern, Yoga along with Bharat Natyam. Khatak and Modern Bollywood. “I believe that dance should be a statement of art, beauty and grace”. As a young child, Aklima always possessed a different style all her own.

Why Dosti?
Dosti encompasses all of her different styles into her choreography. The name Dosti comes from Aklima’s all time favorite old Indian Song,”Meri Dosti Mera Pyar” by Mohd. Rafi. A lot of her inspiration comes from that romantic feeling you get when you watch old movies, and her knack for knowing when the audience will get bored always keeps her dances fresh, exciting and in true star form, leaves the audience wanting more.

Where is Dosti?
Aklima herself has been performing solo for years, but was discovered in Orlando last year by Dogla of Powerline Sounds. He invited her to take part in his Indian Variety Show in Orlando, where he affectionately nicknamed her “The Sensational Aklima!”. And since then, Dosti has taken off, performing at many events like, Diwali Mela at Lake Eola, Save Abee Charity Fundraiser, the Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce Gala, Lawton Elementary School Cultural Event, The Asian Cultural Festival of Orlando, the Gujarati Society of Central Florida Competition…and many more!

Terry G and Dosti!!
Recently seen at the Save Abee Fundraiser, Dosti acquired the spot in the next Terry Gajraj Music Video “Dil Mora”, set to shoot in April. And is also going to be his exclusive dancers for the upcoming Chuntey Extravaganza in April. The Guyana Baboo was very taken with their unique style, and wants to take Chutney to the next level.
